Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers about what Elopics does and what to expect when you use it.
What is Elopics?
Elopics is a photo comparison app. People are shown two photos at a time and pick the one they like more. Over time, those choices help build a ranking score for each photo.
How does Elopics work?
The main rating page shows a head-to-head matchup between two photos from the same broad category, like men, women, dogs, or cats. Each tap counts as one vote. After enough votes, stronger photos tend to rise and weaker photos tend to fall.
Do I need an account to rate photos?
No. You can rate photos in guest mode. You only need an account if you want to upload your own photos, manage your profile, and appear in the ranking pool yourself.
How are rankings calculated?
Elopics uses repeated head-to-head voting. When a photo wins a comparison, its rating can go up. When it loses, its rating can go down. That means your score is shaped by many small voting decisions instead of one big survey or one-time rating.
What does the P next to a photo score mean?
A score with a P means the rating is provisional. In plain English, that means the photo is still new and has not had enough votes for the score to have settled.
For example, a new photo will show as 1200P. After it gets a few more votes, the confidence in the rating will be higher and the P will disappear.
Can I choose what kinds of photos I rate?
Yes. On the Rate page, you can choose which categories you want to see. For example, you can leave all categories on or narrow the page down to just one or two groups.
What kinds of photos can I upload?
You can upload photos of yourself, your dog, or your cat. You should only upload photos you own or have permission to use, and the photo should match the subject you select when uploading.
What happens after I upload a photo?
Your photo becomes part of the rating pool if it is active and meets the app's rules. As other people vote on it, its rating updates and it can appear in your photo list and in rankings.
What happens if a photo is reported?
Reported photos can be removed from the public rating pool while an admin reviews them. This helps reduce the chance that a photo keeps being shown while a safety or ownership concern is being checked.
How do I contact you about a problem?
Use the Contact us page in the app to report a photo, request a takedown, suggest an improvement, or send a general support message.
